For most birdwatcher the quality of trails where they can watch the birds is important. Many Guatemalan coffee farms use volcanic stone to enforce the trails where the vehicles and people who work with coffee cultivation move. The volcanic stone is almost round and gives a very beautiful appearance to the roads.

Acorn Woodpecker
Filadelfia Estate has a variety of ecosistems, one of these is pine-oak forest and Acorn Woodpecker is one of the characteristic bird.
This is one of the 5 resident woodpecker species you will find in a birding walk.

Cloud forest trail.
This Wednesday at Filadelfia State in my weekly birding walk I found the first multi-specific warbler flock. The first group of birds traveling southern in the fall season this year was a great moment but the images that are still in my mind are two hummingbirds found in the cloud forest. Green-throated Mountain-gem and Sparkling-tailed Woodstar are two gorgeous bird species.

Green-throated Mountain-gem, a regional endemic from Central America.
These two hummingbird species are restricted to Southern Mexico and Middle Honduras highlands, but Guatemala is the best place to look for them.

Sparkling-tailed Woodstar, a tiny marvel from nature.
